X-pert Software is a package for constructing and working with different types of expert systems. X-pert Software Free is strictly for personal use, may not be used commercially or to produce commercial applications, and is not for resale.

X-pert Rules:

Shell for rule-based expert systems. This shell allows the user to define the knowledge base of a rule-based expert system and obtaining conclusions using several inference mechanisms: modus ponens, modus tollens, rule chainig, etc. The knowledge base of a rule-based expert system can also be defined from a file, or using the user interface.

 X-pert Networks:

Shell for expert systems based on Bayesian networks. The graphical and probabilistic structure of a the Bayesian probabilistic model can be defined from a file, or using the user interface. Several propagation algorithms: polytrees, cluster trees, simulation, etc., are implemented to propagate evidence.

  X-pert Symbolic:

Automatic Mathematica/Maple symbolic code generator for Bayesian networks. Using programs such as Mathematica or Maple with symbolic capabilities, propagation of evidence is performed in symbolic way, that is, using symbolic parameters to define the probabilistic structure.

 X-pert Maps:

I-maps, semigraphoids, and graphoids generator. Given an initial input list, a the additional conditional independence statements (if any) need to make the input list an I-map, semigraphoid, or graphoid are obtained by using the associated properties.

To get X-pert Software Free for the Macintosh computers, follow these three easy steps:

  1. Download the files by clicking in their corresponding names (these are Macintosh files, compressed with Stuffit, downloading on a PC may prove problematic).
  2. The file you retrieved is compressed, and must be decompressed using Stuffit Expander (available at http://www.aladdinsys.com/) or any decompression tool that performs BinHex 4.0 decompression.
  3. Once you have decompressed your file, you'll find a folder containing the program and some examples in your desktop. Download the user's manuals (postscript files) by clicking in their corresponding names:

Please email us at gutierjm@ccaix3.unican.es if you want to be informed about new versions or updates of these programs.
