Most Romanesque buildings in Besaya and Campóo are one-nave churches originally covered with wood. As years went by, these were being built with groin vaults as is the case of the church of Retortillo. It is worth remarking the capitals of its pointed triumphal arches inside, representing scenes of tournaments.
