Manuel Rosa-Garrido

Principal Investigator

Manuel received his Ph.D. from UC (Spain), where he investigated the role of the epigenetic factor CTCF in cancer progression. He then completed his postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA (USA), where he pioneered high-resolution chromatin conformation capture methods to study genome remodeling in cardiac disease. He was subsequently hired as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at UAB (USA), where he led a research program focused on epigenetic therapies for heart failure.

Manuel is now a Principal Investigator at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and works at IBBTEC in Spain, where he leads his group in cardiac epigenetics and chromatin structure.

Javier Gámez Luque

Student Collaborator

Javier earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from UGR (Spain). Since then, he has been collaborating remotely with the Rosa-Garrido Lab, contributing to the analysis of RNA-seq and Hi-C datasets generated by the group.

The primary interest of his reaseach lies in understanding how cardiac epigenetics drives the development of heart failure and in identifying potential therapeutic targets to halt disease progression.

Outside the lab, Javier enjoys listening to and playing music, as well as attending punk and rock ’n’ roll concerts.
