Awareness Seminar

The awareness seminar on Mitigation of the Environmental Impact of fluorinated gases took place in Santander last June 20, 2019.

The event was aimed to disseminate the strategies for the reduction of emissions of fluorinated gases of high global warming potential which are used as refrigerants and for acclimatization. The awareness seminar was organized by Prof. Ane Urtiaga and Dr. Gabriel Zarca, both of them members of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of the University of Cantabria, as one of the activities of the international project KET4F-GAS, co-funded by the Interreg SUDOE program. The open ceremony was chaired by the institutional representatives and the General Director of Environment of the Cantabria regional Government. 7 invited speakers from Spain, France and Portugal, representing the administration (Spanish Office of Climate Change, Cantabria Regional Government), companies involved in the trade of fluorinated gases, environmental ONGs and representatives of the employees, showed the main discussion points in the topic. More than 90 people registered as attendees to this event, free of charge.
