Dissemination Activities

On December 3rd, 2019, a group of 36 primary students of the school Cicero visited the ETSIIT of the University of Cantabria. The students visited the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Department, where they dressed up like a chemical engineer working in a lab, and did a chromatography experiment aimed at separating the different colors in pen ink, and learnt how the Chem-e-car, developed by chemical engineer students, works.

New Staff: Carmen Barquín

Carmen Barquín, Master in Chemical Engineering, has joined the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Department, as staff of the project: ”Retos en la implementación de la fotocatálisis para aplicaciones medioambientales (RTI2018-099407-B-I00) (MCIU/AEI/FEDER, UE)” principal investigator: María José Rivero.

PhD. Thesis Committee

Prof. Ane Urtiaga participated in the committee of evaluation of the doctoral thesis defended by Zhihong Ye, entitled “Processes and catalysts for the electrochemical removal of persistent organic micropollutants from urban wastewater at mild pH”. The academic event took place in the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Barcelona, last November 29th, 2019. The thesis was supervied by Dr. Ignacio Sirés, and the committee was completed by Prof. Onofrio Scialdione (University of Palermo, Italy) and Prof. Cristina Saez (University Castilla La Mancha).

Visit: Cantabria Labs

On November 28th, 2019, the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department received the visit of the company Cantabria Labs, in order to establish a first contact between both institutions and looking for future collaborations.
