Another possible route is to return to the highway road to Palencia from Reinosa and passing by Matamorosa, taking the turning for Valdeolea district where the medieval tower of San Martín de Hoyos stands out. Likewise, it is interesting to visit the churches of La Loma, Mata de Hoz and Henestrosas de las Quintanillas with interesting Gothic frescoes, the only ones remaining in Cantabria. It is worth mentioning important lay architecture in this district, with the outstanding palaces of La Corralada in the Henestrosas, with an attached chapel, and Hoyos palace in Las Quintanillas, also with a chapel.

Returning to the highway road to Palencia, a few kilometres from Matamorosa the Romanesque Collegiate church of San Pedro de Cervatos can be found on the right side of the road, one of the four Romanesque collegiate churches in Cantabria.
