Laboratory of Geosynthetics

The Laboratory of Geosynthetics of the University of Cantabria (LAGUC) is born with the aim to respond to the different needs from companies and public organisms concerning characterization of geosynthetic materials, as well as supporting the development of research projects developed in the University.

LAGUC is a laboratory assigned to the Department of Transports and Technology of Projects and Processes of the University of Cantabria and located in the Engineering School of this University. The laboratory was launched in 2005 by the academics of the Group of Research of Technology of Construction (GITECO).

ENTER

LAGUC is a good indication of the approximation by the University of Cantabria to the industrial framework, not only from the province but to the whole country and its decision to contribute to the technological development of the companies, as well as to provide a service, absent until that moment in the North of the peninsula, to control the quality of the geosynthetic materials.

The laboratory counts on state-of-the-art equipment and specializad staff, for which the Ministry of Science and Technology, local Cantabria government and the University of Cantabria have contributed to its financing.

ENAC accreditation

LAGUC is accredited by the official Spanish body of accreditation, ENAC, following the criteria established in the standard UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025, as testing laboratory of geosynthetics, showing in this way the technical competence and competent systematic quality management.
