Santander, Spain on July 6-8, 2016
The Workshop on Mathematics in Communications (WMC’2016) will take place at the University of Cantabria (Santander, Spain) on 6-8 July 2016.
The Workshop on Mathematics in Communication 2016 is the fourth edition of the WMC series, which started in 2006 and continued in the years 2008 and 2012. This series has been established in response to the growing interest among mathematicians and cryptographers in cryptosystems based on related algebraic problems and cryptanalysis. Several top researchers have participated in past editions of WMC, see the main pages of WMC 2006, WMC 2008 and WMC 2012.
Now, the workshop has expanded to include communications and related mathematical topics with applications to communications such as finite fields and combinatorics. We hope that this workshop serves as a meeting point between practitioners and theoreticians.
The workshop will consist of invited lectures and contributed talks.
- We are happy to have Harald Niederreiter, Gary McGuire, Carlos Moreno, Heeralal Janwa, Solomon Golomb, Jintai Ding and Patrick Solé as plenary speakers.
Sadly, Solomon W. Golomb passed away on May 1,2016. It is a great loss to the scientific community but also as a remarkable person.
Aditionally WMC’ 2016 is held in honour of our colleague and friend, Oscar Moreno, who passed away on July 14, 2015. The objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers and colleagues of the late Oscar and to demonstrate that his legacy lives on in ongoing research in the area he was so passionate about. The workshop is held the week before ISIT 2016. |
Topics for WMC 2016 include but are not limited to the topics listed below:
- Finite Fields
- Number Theory
- Combinatorics
- Applications to communications using sequences and arrays, with emphasis on radar, sonar and cryptology
This workshop is open to both practicioners and theoreticians. To preregister to the workshop, please send an email to amac_AT_unican.es, stating your interest in participate in the workshop. We ask you to do it as soon as possible, specially if you need an invitation letter in order to apply for a VISA.
